How to choose the perfect avocado?

When choosing a ripe avocado, you need to evaluate it according to several criteria.

In appearance

When choosing an avocado, make sure that there are no stains on the surface (indicating overripeness), cracks, dents, or other damage.
The ripe avocados of the popular Fuerte variety will be dark green in color, but the ripeness of the avocado should not be judged by the color of the peel, as there are a lot of varieties of avocados and everyone has a different color. For example, another popular variety of avocado "Hass" has a completely dark purple color.

By softness

The most proven and reliable way to choose a ripe avocado is to check the softness by not pressing the fingertip firmly. If the dent is slightly elastic, it means the fruit is ripe, if there is a deep dent - the fetus is already overripe and may be rotten. If the fruit is hard and not sagging, then the avocado has not yet ripened.

Important! Do not overdo it with clicking on the avocado. In order not to damage the avocado, we push the fetus not with a fingernail, but with pads or a palm.

By the stalk

We shift the stalk and see what's under it. In ripe avocados, the flesh should be yellowish or light brown in color. An unripe fruit has a light green color, and an overripe fruit has a dark color. If traces of mold are visible under the handle, then the avocado has deteriorated.

Ripening at home

If you have already acquired an immature avocado, then you can speed up the process of ripening. Put it at room temperature for a couple of days with bananas and cover with something on top so that the special gases released by bananas significantly accelerate the ripening of the avocado.

Do not put unripe avocados in the refrigerator, as they may deteriorate.
